In 2015, we moved to Spain for what was meant to be a one-year sabbatical from the corporate world in Sydney.
We wanted to experience life in a country with a completely different culture and language. We instantly fell in love with Spain — and over a decade later, we’re still here.
But we’ll be honest: we arrived totally unprepared. The first three months were filled with bureaucracy, paperwork, and costly mistakes. Through first-hand experience, we’ve learned everything from being self-employed, how property works, to what it’s really like to navigate the Spanish school system and build a life here.
